- Pedals: use a proper pedal wrench (not a cone wrench); left pedal is reverse-threaded.
- Chains: manufacturers design chain, cassette, derailleur, and shifter as a system — match width/spec.
- Size chain correctly for the drivetrain; use master link or connecting rivet as appropriate.
